\nA phone call took place on Thursday between US President Donald Trump and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, according to a statement by the Lebanese presidency.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the call, President Aoun renewed his appreciation for the efforts Trump is making to reach a ceasefire in Lebanon and to secure lasting peace and stability,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n
\u201cTrump, in turn, expressed his support for President Aoun and Lebanon, emphasizing his commitment to responding to Lebanon\u2019s request for a ceasefire at the earliest possible time,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n
Earlier today, Aoun rejected a US request for a direct phone call with \u2018Israeli\u2019 Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday, an official source told Roya.<\/p>\n
“The Lebanese president refused a direct call with Netanyahu and informed (US Secretary of State) Marco Rubio of this,” adding that “the American side was understanding”, the source said.<\/p>\n
