669 bodies recovered in Nepal, 2,362 missing

Nepal Police said that 2,362 people are still missing after the devastating flash floods in the country. So far, rescue teams have recovered 669 bodies.

Police spokesperson Abhi Narayan Kafal gave this information on Saturday (August 29). The Kathmandu Post reported this information.

According to police, 1,863 of the missing people are Nepalese citizens. Of them, 1,591 are men and 264 are women. In addition, 223 are men and 300 are women among the 499 missing foreign nationals.

Among the recovered bodies, 268 are men, 148 are women, 22 are teenagers and 20 are teenagers. Apart from this, 211 partial human remains have been recovered. So far, 20 bodies identified have been handed over to their relatives.

The ongoing search and rescue operation after the floods has so far evacuated 2,301 injured or vulnerable people. Of them, 1,506 are men and 795 are women.

Nearly 1,000 people are staying in nine shelters in Nuwakot district after losing their homes in the devastating floods. However, all the displaced people in the Dhading shelter have been evacuated, police said.

A massive search and rescue operation is still underway in Nepal to find the missing and identify the bodies recovered.
